What brought you to Hillsdale?
Having grown up in Michigan, I appreciated Hillsdale’s intentionality in engaging the culture, but it didn’t work out to attend for my undergrad. But as I was looking to continue my education in the classical world, Hillsdale was the natural choice. My friends who have attended Hillsdale rave about the professors and the high-quality thinking and discussions, and I jumped at the opportunity to engage with those for myself.
What has been the thing you’ve appreciated most about your time here?
I’ve appreciated the willingness of both faculty and students to say, “I don’t know, but let’s find out.” In my undergrad, most of the teachers were unwilling to ever admit they didn’t know, but if they did, they certainly didn’t care to follow up. Hillsdale’s faculty do. They will put in the effort to back up their reasoning, even when they don’t have to, and I greatly admire that quality.
