Brief Biography:
Iulia was born in Bucharest, Romania, and grew up in sunny South Florida, where she is thrilled to say she still calls home. Having been educated at Paideia Classical Academy, a classical Orthodox Christian school, since third grade, she knew for a long time that she wanted to share that same blessing with others. She made good use of her classical background at Ave Maria University, earning her B.A. in Humanities with a minor in Literature and graduating summa cum laude. During her undergraduate years, she worked as a tutor for the Immokalee Foundation, the AMU Writing Center, and Paideia Classical Academy, and served as a TA in her senior year. She is currently the 5th grade homeroom teacher at Paideia, where she worked part-time throughout college. She is excited to be part of this prestigious program and bring what she is learning into her work.
Post-Graduation Plans:
I plan to continue in my position at Paideia Classical Academy, using my new skills and knowledge to further strengthen the curriculum and build up the school in every way I can.
Extracurricular Academic Activities:
I played soccer in my senior year of high school and captained an intramural team in my freshman year at Ave Maria. I also played bass drum for the Ave Maria Marching Band for three seasons and was part of two productions with the Shakespeare in Performance troupe as a dramaturge and assistant stage manager.
What brought you to Hillsdale?
Hillsdale came highly recommended both by family members and trusted mentors at Ave Maria. I knew about Hillsdale’s mission and philosophy of education. As I had already been hired by PCA, I was on the lookout for a program that would let me continue both my work and my education. The hybrid MCEL program was a perfect fit, and I could not have been more eager to submit my application!
